Meet Dusty: The Affectionate Cuddle Bug and Survivor

Dusty is a fantastic Bully breed mix, estimated to be about 1 year old (65 lbs), who is fighting for his safety. He is a true survivor; his rescuer found him abandoned at a common dump site in June 2024, dumped next to a deceased dog in a black garbage bag. Despite this traumatic start, he quickly blossomed into a champion snuggler and an amazing companion under his private rescuer's care.

He has a low to moderate energy level—he’s chill and mellow about 90% of the time—but he loves a good romp! He enjoys being chased by other dogs at the park (he'd thrive with a large, fixed, dominant dog companion if introduced properly), but he's also happy to play with his toys, go for a thorough walk, or chew a bully stick.

Dusty's Excellent Manners

Dusty is a well-behaved dog who has already mastered the basics:

• Trained: House-trained and crate-trained.

• Leash Skills: He has fantastic leash manners and makes a great walking partner.

• Commands: He knows "sit," "stay," "off," "up," "car ride," “bedtime,” and "paw."

• Vetting: He is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccines.

Home Preferences & Special Notes

• Only Dog Preference: Dusty thrives when he is the single focus of attention. He would be happiest as the only dog in the household, though he could potentially thrive with one larger, dominant, fixed dog.

• People: He does best with men and would prefer a home where a man is the primary handler, though he is good with people in general.

• Kids: He is great with children of all ages.

• Allergies: Dusty has mild, manageable allergies (manifesting as itching, scratching, and redness). This is currently managed successfully with weekly medicated baths. His rescuer recently had a full allergy test performed, and we are currently awaiting the results. This information will be passed immediately to his new family.

• Communication: When he gets "mouthy" and nibbles on you, it's his way of signaling he's under-stimulated and ready for a walk or some playtime!
